LAST POST

Hi everyone this is the last post! I think that having English classes at the University is a very good space to learn and improve our English. However, I believe that it is very important how our participation should be.

In this time English is very important in all ways, it´s like a key you use to open a lot of doors and we must have a good education in that. I think that should exist more levels of English, to really get prepare.

I like the use of blogs, I haven’t had a blog before this experience and I think it’s a very good way to learn how to write in English and also share with the class mates. Sometimes you can get fun or learn interesting things about the class mates reading their blogs.

I think that my weakness in English is related to speak, more then write. I don’t know how I can improve this, maybe practicing speaking in my house with my family and friends; also I think that watch movies and listen more songs in English may help.

My other idea to practice English is to travel around the world. I really want to travel to England and then go for all Europe, but I don’t have the plan ready yet and now I am trying to save money for that.

Outside the English class, I don’t use much more English. I use it sometimes in my house, and sometimes to speak with foreigner people, but I want to practice more for improve my English and a very good way may be travelling around the world. I hope to do it someday.

2013

If i have to describe 2013 in a few words I will say that it has been a very good year, in personal themes I think I did well in the different activities that I participle, I mean in university, work and family stuffs.

Something that makes me very happy is to think about 2014 and finish the career it´s only one year more! Besides I am so glad because my boyfriend is finishing his career at Universidad de Concepcion and now we are closer, the 6 hours trip to Conce was boring me after all these years, so this is definitely good news.

In terms of work I've done well, although I'm happy with that, this is not my dream job so I look forward to the day I can pursue my own projects.

Something I could not do much as I want is to visit more frequently family and friends. Some of my friends are having children and I feel that every time I go to see the babies they are bigger and bigger! I would like to see them much more!

Something similar happens with my grandmother, I always say good bye to her with a bit sadness because i would like to see her more, however, we are always talking and i take the opportunity to be with her as much as I can.

So… it has been a year full of things and I think that i should be thankful that everything went well, and just wait 2014 to bring good things for all of us.

See you!

Latina

Latina

One of my favorite books is “Las Venas Abiertas de América Latina” (The Opens Veins of Latin America), written by Eduardo Galeano. I like this book because it shows the hard reality of our continent since many years ago. In “Las Venas Abiertas de América Latina” the author tries to teach us about the point of view and quality of life of the poor people, and the unfair situation that we have to face day after day.

This book is set since Colony times until the seventies, a period of military dictatorships in South America. In each chapter, the book shows us the injustice in this zone of world, the slavery and the hard work made in the mineral mines, the millionaire business between the powerful companies, and the illness and poverty of the people here lives.

In this book, Galeano tells the story of spanish, british and american colonialism. It also explains how this happened with the help of conquistadores, (the Cross and the Sword) along with the more recent and most corrupt mother-land sellers, diplomacy, dictators and transnational’s agencies. A must read for burocrats and hypocrits in international finance business.

I think it´s important to read about topics like this, with major reason today, when is our duty to take care about the world we live on, we need to know about other´s realities and forms of life.

Old School

Hi everyone! I was thinking in some topic to write about and suddenly the picture of Mario bros came into my head. I really don’t know very much about videogames and I’m not really good playing them, but the videogames I know are Mario bros, Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instict, Street Fighter, Pac man and the Sims. I never had a super Nintendo but I played them by an emulator for PC.

The latest videogames I played where candy crush and bubble switch saga, and some games on Wii, my brother has one and sometimes we play. Even that, the only one game I choose when I play Wii is Mario Bros because I always play it without getting boring. As I said, i´m not really good playing and I usually die, but when it happens I started to play again. When we were children we spend many hours playing Mario with part of my family.

Today I really don’t play video games and even if I started to play again i am sure I will never complete the game, because Mario Bros has a lot of versions with a lot of levels or “worlds” like the country, desert, sea, under sea, Egyptian pyramids, etc. My favorite Mario Bros is “Super Mario World” by this graphics, music, the character Yoshi and the colors. A real old school game.
